Experience and innovation

General Converting Machines looks to the future with a constant commitment to the development of increasingly efficient plants and machinery, both from an energy and operational point of view. Our design integrates the most advanced technologies to optimize production processes, reduce waste and improve environmental sustainability. From water-based solvent solutions to the reduction of overall dimensions, up to advanced traceability systems, we innovate to offer our customers high-performance, safe and eco-friendly tools.

Automatic grammature control and micrometer gap adjustment in solventless systems

To meet the demands for precision and cost optimization in the lamination process, GCM has developed a fully automated system for adjusting the amount of adhesive applied. This innovative system ensures:

  • Consumption optimization: accurate weight control to avoid adhesive waste.
  • Improved product quality: Reduction of optical defects and incorrect bonding strength.
  • Increased operational efficiency: simplifies the work of operators, preventing damage to the applicator cylinders and minimizing errors. Thanks to this technology, our machines guarantee reliability and precision in any working condition, without the need for expensive sensors subject to high tolerances.

Reduction of energy consumption and CO2 emissions

Energy efficiency is a pillar of the GCM philosophy. Our state-of-the-art plants are designed to reduce environmental impact without compromising production performance. Each newly designed machine is equipped with energy recovery systems, allowing consumption of less than 2 kW/h, less than a standard domestic appliance. This approach not only reduces operating costs, but actively contributes to the reduction of CO2 emissions, in line with the global ecological transition goals.

Circular economy and sustainable mono-material structures

GCM is positioned as a forerunner in the sustainability of flexible packaging thanks to the collaboration with SCR Packaging and RC Materials. These partnerships allow us to develop bio-based coating solutions  that improve barrier and adhesion performance, making the materials suitable for sustainable management. The aim is to facilitate:

  • Mono-materiality, for more easily recyclable packaging.
  • The circular economy, reducing the need for virgin plastic.
  • Compliance with new European regulations, which promote the reuse of packaging by 2030.

Thanks to these innovative solutions, we offer companies a real opportunity to adapt to international standards and reduce the environmental impact of the packaging sector, transforming sustainability into a competitive advantage.
